Lifeat MPIS
A school year is not a straight line of lessons. It has a rhythm — terms that open and close, mornings of quiet worship, afternoons of hard-fought finals, and the days a child will still be describing thirty years from now. This is where that rhythm lives.
The year has a heartbeat
Ask a graduate what they remember of school, and they rarely begin with a lesson.
They begin with the marchpast, and the house that came from behind to take the cup. With the carol service, and the year they were finally chosen to read. With the science fair project that almost did not work until the last hour. With a gown a size too big on a five-year-old walking out of Reception and into Primary 1, entirely certain they had conquered something.
These are not the decorations around an education. They are where a great deal of the education actually happens — where a shy child discovers a voice, where a talented one learns to lose well, where a whole community remembers that it is a community.
School life at MPIS is rich, active and full of these milestones, and this section keeps you connected to every one of them.
Both campuses
Everything happening, across Idoro and Itak
You will find the academic calendar in full — resumptions, breaks, assessment weeks and examination windows, published ahead of time so you can plan around them. You will find Open Days, where our classrooms stand open and the conversation about your child is honest and specific. You will find our festivals of culture, music, art and science; the solemn assemblies where the school grows quiet together; the tournaments that fill our sport centres with noise; the PTA gatherings where parents and teachers do the real work of partnership; the field trips that carry learning past the school gate; the graduations that mark every ending properly; and Ethic & Moral Mingling, the space where character stops being a poster on a wall and becomes a decision a student actually makes.
Academic Calendar
Your master schedule for the whole session — resumptions, mid-term breaks, examination weeks and holidays, published upfront.
Open Day
Step into the classrooms, sit with your child’s teachers, review real work in real books, and agree the next set of goals together.
Festivals
Cultural Day, the Arts & Music Festival, the STEM and Agro Fair, Literary Week and Carol Day — the loudest days in the MPIS year.
Solemn Assembly
The hour we deliberately slow down: scripture, a short word, corporate prayer and the school hymn.
Tournaments
Every student trains, competes and belongs to a house. Inter-house leagues, the Sports Festival and five specialist academies.
PTA Events
A working partnership, not a formality. General meetings, class forums and four standing committees.
Graduation & End of Session
Every term ends with recognition, and every stage ends with a send-off. Our highest-prestige days.
Field Trips
The factory floor, the riverbank, the courtroom, the farm. Every trip tied to a unit of the scheme of work.
Ethic & Moral Day
Our most distinctive programme. No marks, no lecture — students sit in a circle and talk about the things that are actually hard.
Every level, every child
What changes across sixteen levels is not whether a child takes part. It is only what taking part asks of them.
Every one of these is designed for the whole span of our school — from a sprout taking their first steps in the preschool to a capstone visionary preparing to leave us in SSS 3.
The shape of a year
Three terms, one rhythm
Literary & Language Week, then Carol Day and the end-of-year awards.
Cultural Day, the STEM and Agro Fair, Inter-House Sports, mid-year honours.
Arts & Music Festival, field trips, the Award Ceremony and Graduation Day.
Solemn Assembly on Friday, and Ethic & Moral circles in mixed-age groups.
Come and be part of it
Our doors are genuinely open
Open Day
Once each term, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at both campuses. Twelve-minute conferences with subject teachers, booked in advance on the portal, plus specialist desks and the Head’s briefing at 11:30.
Inter-House Sports Festival
March past, finals, relays, the parents’ races and the trophy presentation. The house standings that decide the House Cup are settled here.
Award Ceremony & Graduation Day
The largest day in the MPIS calendar. Guest of honour address, the full prize list, the House Cup, valedictory addresses and the graduation ceremonies.
Term dates and event schedules are published here and on the MPIS Clever Portal, with notifications the moment anything changes. Explore the sections above, mark your calendar, and come and see what a Maryland year actually looks like.
