In detail

Explorer Class

A dynamic, hands-on programme where preschoolers think like scientists, create like artists and collaborate like leaders. We turn “Why?” into “I know!”

Age 3 – 5

Where young minds launch big adventures.

What your child will study

Literacy

Children move from recognising letters and sounds into early reading readiness, developing phonemic awareness through phonics games, storytelling and guided reading.

Numeracy

Beyond counting into early problem-solving and logical reasoning — number recognition, patterns, sorting and basic operations.

Learning Skills

Focus and concentration, problem-solving strategies, curiosity and questioning, and a resilient try-again mindset.

Social Skills

Through role-play and guided interaction, children develop teamwork, empathy and confidence in expressing ideas.

The advantage

By the end of the year, your child will

  • Solve problems creatively and confidently.
  • Communicate ideas clearly through words, art and play.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers.
  • Approach challenges with resilience and confidence.

Duration

One academic year

Three terms of three months each, with continuous assessment and structured progression.

September and January

September is the main intake. January is available for mid-year entry.

Parent questions

How is this different from the Sprouts Class?

While both focus on play, Explorers dive deeper. Think of it as science lab meets storytelling time.

My child is a bit shy. Will they fit in?

Absolutely. Our Little Leaders programme gently encourages every child to participate at their own pace.

Do they need to read before joining?

Not at all. We meet every child where they are and guide them forward.

Parents ask themselves

Is the work pitched right for my child? What happens if they are ahead — or behind?

Those are the right questions. Every page here is written to answer them plainly — and the admissions team will answer them in person on 07044000075.

How it works here

Known by name, taught by specialists.

Two things shape a day at MPIS more than anything else.
Guided study, inside the school day

Core work is reinforced under specialist supervision before the last bell, which is why children leave without a bag full of homework and still make progress.

Continuous assessment, not one big exam

Learning and evaluation happen together. Struggling learners get targeted support early; strong ones are stretched further.

A form tutor who knows the child

Pastoral care is structural, not optional. Every child has an adult whose job is to notice.
