How Open Day works
- Moment 01
Arrival and check-in
Collect your appointment card at the reception desk in the hall.
- Moment 02
Classroom walk-through
Visit your child’s classroom, see the displays, and look through the exercise books and portfolios left out on the desks.
- Moment 03
Teacher conferences
Twelve-minute slots with key subject teachers. Book these in advance through the MPIS Clever Portal so you are not queuing.
- Moment 04
Specialist desks
The librarian, the school counsellor, the sick bay nurse, the ICT lead, the academy coaches and the music school staff each hold a desk in the hall. Walk up — no appointment needed.

Head’s briefing
A short address at 11:30 a.m. covering the term ahead, followed by open questions.

Early Years — Sprouts to Reception
The learning journal and observation record.
- Speech and language milestones
- Fine and gross motor development
- Toilet training and independence
- Settling and friendships
- Early phonics and number sense
Parents leave with two or three specific things to practise at home.
Lower Primary — Primary 1 to 3
Reading fluency and comprehension level, handwriting, number facts, and behaviour for learning. This is where we agree the home reading routine.
Upper Primary — Primary 4 to 6
Written composition, problem-solving and independent study habits. For Primary 6, readiness for the move to Itak and the demands of secondary work.
Junior Secondary — JSS 1 to 3
Subject-by-subject performance, organisation and homework discipline, and choice of academy or music track. In Term 2 of JSS 3, the subject-combination conversation for Senior Secondary.
Senior Secondary — SSS 1 to 3
Examination trajectory against IGCSE, NECO and SSCE requirements, predicted grades, and university and career pathways. For SSS 3, the timetable of registrations, mocks and finals.
Before you come
Four things that make the day work
- Bring your child. From Primary 4 upward we ask students to attend their own conferences. A child who hears the plan is far more likely to follow it.
- Bring your questions in writing. Twelve minutes goes quickly, and the specific question always gets the better answer.
- Travelling in? Boarding families coming from Lagos or elsewhere may request a consolidated morning block so all conferences fall within a single visit. Email the campus office at least a week ahead.
- Bring the family. Refreshments are served in the courtyard. Younger siblings are welcome and supervised play is provided.
