Festivalsat MPIS
Excellence is not only academic. Our festivals give every student a stage — for language, for craft, for music, for science, for the things a report card cannot measure.
The premise
The loudest days in the MPIS year
Cultural Day
Students represent the nations, states and peoples of our community through dress, cuisine, dance and language. Each class adopts a culture, researches it for three weeks, and presents it. Parents contribute dishes to the food pavilion. Prizes go to the class that teaches the audience the most — not the one that spends the most.
Arts & Music Festival
The MPIS Music School takes the main stage: piano, guitar, drums and violin ensembles, plus the school choir. Alongside it runs the visual arts exhibition — painting, drawing, textile work and sculpture from every level, hung gallery-style in the hall.
STEM Innovation & Agro Fair
Project stalls from Primary 4 upward. Working models, investigations, coding and robotics demonstrations from the ICT lab, and produce and process displays from the school agro hub. Judged by visiting professionals from engineering, medicine, agriculture and technology.
Literary & Language Week
Spelling bee, debate, poetry recital, drama, and storytelling in English and in our indigenous languages. Culminates in the inter-house debate final and a book-character parade for the younger levels.
Christmas Carol Day
Our whole-school carol service in the multipurpose hall, with the choir, the orchestra and readings by students from every stage.
By stage
How each stage takes part
Every child performs. Nobody is left in the audience.
Early Years
Costume parades, nursery rhyme and action-song performances, thumb-print and collage displays, and the book-character parade. Every child performs; nobody is left in the audience.
Lower Primary — Primary 1 to 3
Class dances, choral verse, simple craft exhibits, and the junior spelling bee.
Upper Primary — Primary 4 to 6
Cultural presentations with researched narration, first science fair projects, instrumental ensembles, and the junior debate.
Junior Secondary — JSS 1 to 3
Drama productions, full ensemble performances, independent science and agro projects, and the senior spelling and debate competitions.
Senior Secondary — SSS 1 to 3
Students run the festivals. Stage management, sound, compering, exhibition curation, judging logistics and the media team are all student-led under staff supervision. It is one of the most demanding leadership assignments in the school.
For parents
Coming to a festival
Everyone is welcome
Festival days are open to all parents and extended family. Come early; the hall fills.
Nobody is priced out
Costume and material requirements are published at least three weeks ahead, with a low-cost option always offered so that no child is excluded on grounds of expense.
Take all the photographs you like
Photography is welcome. The media team also publishes a full gallery to the portal within a week.
